Daniel Boone High School Athletic Upgrades
A masterplan was developed to identify deficiencies and opportunities within the existing athletics precinct of the high school campus. The main design driver was the creation of a common pedestrian pathway to create an axis for the new infrastructure, connecting all existing and future athletics facilities. The masterplan improvements also included new baseball and softball locker rooms, home and visitor dugouts, batting cages, bleacher seating, and press boxes. The existing football field house was repurposed to serve as a gateway into the athletics complex, housing the ticket booth and visitor’s public restrooms. The football visitor bleachers were replaced, existing track and field and cross-country lockers were upgraded, and a new field house facility was located for soccer and football.
Phase I of the Project has been implemented, which focused on the implementation of the pedestrian axis, upgraded public plazas, utilities, and replacement of the existing football stadium grandstand. The new home grandstand, press box, and filming platform were constructed in place of the existing 50 year-old structure, accommodating approximately 2,300 spectators. Three buildings located beneath the bleacher structure consolidate storage, concession, and toilet facilities. The existing football field lights were also relocated on new poles, out of the spectators’ field of view.
