Piedmont Elementary School Additions + Renovations

The Piedmont Elementary School Project is a renovation/addition of an original 1951 school with circa 1990s additions. The building’s original “mid-century modern” design creates a nice backdrop for an updated 21st Century addition.

The new construction includes programmatic additions of an Art Room (with kiln room), a Music Room, and an expanded Teacher Work Area, along with relocated restrooms. A new North Entry from the main parking area at the rear of the school was also constructed. This creates a common arrival point for the school, whether accessed from the building’s main (South) Entry or the new North Entry, thereby aiding in wayfinding as well as security. A brand new front canopy with building signage for bus drop-off and pick-up complements the existing architecture while creating a new “front door” to the school.

Significant renovations throughout the remainder of the building include new HVAC, relamping with energy-efficient LED lighting, plumbing upgrades, and updated finishes throughout. A new roof, site drainage corrections, and vehicular circulation improvements are also addressed in the project scope. Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) improvements throughout the site and building will make the completed facility more accessible.
