Parrottsville Public Library
The Cocke County Library Board has engaged Lewis Group Architects to replace the branch library in Parrottsville, Tennessee currently located in a small aging stone building near the center of town. The new 4,800 SF structure will be located on a two-acre greenfield site adjacent to the Parrottsville Elementary School.
The facility will be a contemporary design that utilizes rustic materials to blend with regional architecture. The library will feature an Adult Reading lounge with a fireplace and Coffee Bar, a Young Adult reading and study space, and a dedicated Children’s reading area with a two-tier window seat and computer station. In addition to the staff support areas, the facility will also include a multi-media station for entertainment and online research. The Library is intended to be an asset to the town residents by providing a community Meeting Room available for events and organizations and an Archive Room intended to display items of local historical interest.
The site will feature a 3,000 SF outdoor plaza with a 60-seat amphitheater, a Reading Patio, and an outdoor Theater. Also included on the site will be a historic log cabin home which will be used for demonstrations and educational programs.
