Oliver Springs Middle/High School

As part of a comprehensive facility assessment LGA completed with Roane County Schools in 2016, issues with facility conditions and student enrollment in the Oliver Springs community were identified. Oliver Springs Middle School’s student enrollment was well below the facility’s capacity, while Oliver Springs High School’s student enrollment had been declining. Lastly, the deteriorating condition of Oliver Springs High School was an ongoing maintenance concern for the school system. After much discussion, a decision was made to combine the existing middle and high schools into a single facility, utilizing the existing middle school. Doing so would allow Roane County Schools to take one of their oldest facilities offline and allow for more efficient use of the middle school.

The scope of renovations and additions to the existing middle school includes a new secure entrance and shared administrative suite; a total renovated and expanded kitchen and cafeteria; a new Special Education life skills classroom; a new 1,000 seat gymnasium with support spaces; a new band room; and two new CTE labs. The addition utilizes pre-engineered metal building for the gymnasium and a portion of the gym support areas.
