Morristown Hamblen High School West Freshman Academy

The Morristown-Hamblen High School West Freshman Academy project is a multi-phase, multi-year project encompassing additions, renovations and upgrades. Phase I included a renovation of the existing Auditorium, the construction of a new Concessions Building, the installation of new spectator grandstands, and the reconfiguration / resurfacing of the existing running track – work was completed in 2013.

Phase II included the construction of a new 18-Classroom Wing (which is shown above) to serve as a freshman academy, installation of a sprinkler system in portions of the existing building, the construction of a new fire department loop access road, and installation of athletic field lighting – work was completed in 2015.

The scope of Phase III is currently being finalized and centers around the existing building – the proposed work includes replacement of existing windows, installation of a replacement HVAC system, electrical and fire alarm upgrades, lighting upgrades, additional sprinkler system work, and renovations to all existing student toilet rooms.

The final phase is scheduled to include an expansion of the existing gymnasium (or the construction of a new gymnasium) as well as an expansion/renovation of the Food Service & Dining areas.
