Alcoa Intermediate School Additions + Renovations

LGA is fortunate to be working again with Alcoa City Schools on the Intermediate School Addition + Renovations. The school system identified the need for greater capacity at the Intermediate School in 2017, and the design for Renovations and an Addition was completed in 2019.

Upgrades and repairs were planned for the existing building. The two-story addition would house a new Administration wing with a secure entrance and shared administrative suite on the ground floor and a media center above, a Classroom wing providing 24 new classrooms, and a new Kitchen/Cafeteria with an assembly platform and support spaces. The construction will occur in two phases.

Phase One includes constructing the Administration wing but building out the interior spaces as 8 classrooms for the short-term. A reduced portion of the Classroom wing will provide 6 more classrooms and the Food Service area will be built as originally designed. The future Phase Two would convert the Administration wing back to its original design, and the remaining portion of the classroom wing would be extended to provide the 18 additional classrooms that were part of the original scope.

Phase One construction began in October 2021 and is scheduled to open in the Spring of 2023.
